Navigation: The VK segment at the bottom of the McKay Creek trail (on the Grouse mountain powerline trail). Along the powerline trail that runs along the front of Grouse Mountain are two foot bridges. McKay creek trail begins at the end of the first bridge (if coming from Grouse mountain resort direction) or before the second foot bridge if coming from Skyline drive direction. Climb the Mackay Creek trail - make sure you follow the orange diamonds on the trees. The trail crosses both the Baden Powell and Old BCMC trails. Continue straight ahead and up the mountain when coming to these trails. Take the trail to the base of the screaming-eagle chairlift, then follow the gravel road to connect to Grouse Mountain highway. Take the highway down to the most northern point where there is a bend in the road, to continue onto the Pipeline trail. You can find this trail just past the Green "Private Property" sign. At the end of Pipeline take the trail that goes right toward Mt Fromme. This is not well commuted but has orange reflector trail markers on the trees from time to time. Nearing the summit are a couple of turns. There are two ways up to the summit, please take the left direction that goes toward the North peak of Mt Fromme. You don't climb the north peak however, the VK finishes on the South peak. I highly recommend you watch the video if you are unfamilar with the trail.
We are really excited about this course, which takes an unusual route up to the peak of Mt Fromme. Runners will start at the base of the Mackay Creek trail, climb up the trail to the bottom of the Cut, run across to the Grouse Mountain Highway, up the pipeline trail and then take the west summit trail up to Fromme Peak.
